Weekly Meeting

Date: 20th NOVEMBER, 2014

Meeting was called to order at 6.30 PM sharp by the President and half a minute silence was observed in memory of the departed. The Four-Way Test was read and birthday and anniversary Greetings were extended by Pres. Bharat to various members. PP Tauby and Naushad Bhagwagar are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on 23rd and were felicitated.

Two new members were inducted–Sanjay Kothari, proposed by PP Prashant Kale & Ajay Prakash Kanoriya, proposed by Pres Bharat Goenka – taking club membership to 368.

Dr. Rajesh Singhania read a report on Ophthalmic surgery camp held at Yogiraj Hospital, Ramtek. The camp, which was conducted for the underprivileged people living in and around Ramtek, saw 80 operations being conducted by the team of Doctors during the two days of 15th & 16th November. Special mention was made of a non-rotarian Dr. Yashpal Lamba who also was a part of the operating team and is well known within the medical fraternity for his speed of conducting operations. Dr. Lamba was felicitated at the hands of President Bharat Goenka. Dr. Rajesh also announced that Mr. Deepak Chhabra, Trustee – Yogiraj Hospital, flew down particularly for this project and also donated Rs.2,00,000/-.

The members of this club were privileged to have Mr. Andrew Disbury from Leeds University, UK, as a guest of PP Vijay Naidu and also to listen to him for a few minutes. This was followed by project announcements as follows:

District conference by Pres. Elect Khushnoor,
Green City committee and E-waste committee by Monal Malji, who also made n announcement that our club, till this day, has collected e-waste of appx. 500 Kg and generated an amount of Rs.7,500/-, thereby;
Ladies committee by Sonia Khurana;
District Events (postponement) by Jatin Sampat;
Blood donation by gogi Bhasin; Rotaract announcement by Raj Shah &
Next week’s programme by Akash Agrawal.

Speaker for this evening was our own Rtn. Nimish Sutaria who spoke on a very different topic – Foodie Alert. In a neatly prepared Power Point presentation, Nimish took the audience on a tour of his preferred food joints in Nagpur.

Vote of thanks was followed by Sunshine box collection announcement. The meeting was adjourned with singing of the National Anthem.
