UDAAN – a flight of aspiration for many

February 14, 2015 divider image

Another wonderful morning my Rotary friends !

We have finally Udaan today, one of the flagship projects of our club, which will be the culmination of concerted efforts put in by a large number of our members led by Director Pritesh Tank. I am really fascinated at the precision at which everyone is working on a proper plan so that every small issue is taken care of. It’s like a marriage in the family where every care is being taken for the comfort & well being of the incoming guests. Well that’s exactly what we have been doing to welcome these 700+ guests today with aplomb and make them feel that they are the most important person today. These specially abled children from 41 Zilla Parishad schools will be our privileged guests for Breakfast, sports events, sit down lunch and the highlight of the day the cultural program conceptualised and executed by them for our entertainment. You want to have a good time by being a part of a relevant social program , so drop in at South Central Zone Cultural Centre anytime today as per your convenience.

I forgot to mention in my last blog about the Mentoring Program Back to Basics which we conducted on Feb 8th under the able guidance of Joint Sec Rina Sinha and convenors PP Shiraz Gimi and PP Dr Sanjiv Chugh. I was a little sceptical whether we will have adequate numbers attending being a Sunday morning and a little academic in nature, but was pleasantly surprised to see the hall full with some of our new members alongwith the old guard. The sessions were conducted smoothly so that there was no break in the flow. Probably we could hold the attention of our members and their spouses attending the program and they gone home being better aware about Rotary and their role as future leaders of our club.

This evening our bubbly ladies are holding a unique auction for the 18 ladies cricket teams to be followed by the matches tomorrow. It’s all new for me so would like you to join me tomorrow to cheer these sporting ladies as they go about scoring runs and having a blast. Venue : Babasahed Ambedkar grounds, Deekshabhoomi 8 am onwards.

Finally, a call for all of you to accompany us on the flagship project of the club, Hemalkasa Surgical Camp at Lok biradari Prakalp of Padmashree Dr Prakash Amte. We have limited space left on our buses and would be available on a first come first served basis. So do get in contact with Sergeant at arms Sanjay Sethi or Hon Sec Manjot singh Kahai for the trip. Bookings will close as soon as we have our full complement.

So have a good day !

Bharat Goenka
