A wonderful morning my Rotarian friends,

Came back happy & satisfied last evening from our annual pilgrimage to Hemalkasa. This flagship mega project of Rotary Club of Nagpur had a different dimension for me this year, since as the President had to lead the Hemalkasa team from the front.

Just too many of our members and non members were involved in the planning, preparation and execution of this mother of all projects, our crowning glory the “HEMALKASA SURGICAL CAMP”. There were too many apprehensions on my mind as to how to execute this project, infusion of massive funds, aggregating the huge number and amount of medical & non medical supplies, systematically packing them for ease of use at Hemalkasa, despatching the packed goods in two trucks, two buses and numerous cars, collecting the Hemalkasa pilgrimis at my office for collective departure, transit monitoring etc etc etc. It was a massive exercise in management, but friends we came out as winners.

During this camp besides the 109 surgical procedures, we did 17 IOT surgeries, and the path breaking Laproscopic surgery at Hemalkasa by Director Dr Rajesh Singhania using highly specialised equipment which he had carried from Nagpur. I have been informed that all patients are doing well. I feel the need to acknowledge the contribution of a large number of people & orgnisations for this mammoth event and would do so in a day or two in consultation with Director Medical Dr Singhania and Dir Non medical Gogi Bhasin. There is so much of information to share that I can just go on & on.

As you are all aware February 23rd is celebrated as Rotary Day worldwide by every one connected with the Rotary movement. Today is Paul Harris’s birthday, the visionary who founded Rotary way back in 1905, and today we celebrate the 110th anniversary of the founding of ROTARY. 1914-15 is the silver jubilee year of our district RID3030 and our DG Dada Deshmukh continously enthused the Rotarians of this district to bond with each other well, so that the ideals of ROTARY could be carried forward on a common platform. In tune with Dada’s vision, all 21 Rotary club’s of Nagpur mutually agreed to celebrate TODAY as Rotary day by organising a Rotary Carnival where members and families of all the clubs can get together and have a good time. To organise this event lead was taken up Rotary Club of Nagpur, Nagpur Ishanya, Nagpur West and Nagpur North under the able leadership of Chairman President Enclave Rtn Jagdish Khatri.

KINDLY BE THERE AT BISHOP COTTON SCHOOL GROUND, SADAR FROM 6 pm TO 10:30 pm TODAY.

Enjoy the fun food and fellowship with Rotarians of other clubs. Very good quality & variety of foods & games.

Please collect your fellowship coupons worth Rs 600/- at the entrance of the Rotary Carnival.

Bharat Goenka

President.
