May 28, 2015 divider image

Morning Rotary family !

Cannot really say what a wonderful day, the ‘Navtapa’ is here, please take good care of yourself & your family. No point in being adventurous in this extreme weather, do not venture out in the sun if avoidable, drink a lot of water.

June 30th is not far and gradually we are inching towards the end of our Rotary year, but besides the regular meetings of June, we have a Joint Club Assembly on June 7th, the Board of Directors and Chairperson felicitation program on June 25th.

And yes, now that it has been officially announced the Grand Ladies Nite on June 7th evening. Venue & Menu are finalised. The script is written, the participants identified, practices are starting soon and now wait for the Grand show. Please ensure that you do not make other plans and be THERE, and do not say later that I did not tell you.

IMG-20150527-WA0035This evening a large number of Chairpersons who have put in exemplary work during the year, will get their Best Class Chairperson Certificates. Most of these Rotarians & Ranns are your good friends, would you not like to come and cheer them during recognition of their year long efforts.

Degma village’s population of over 1,200 on the picturesque ridge off Mohgaon Zilpi in Hingna taluka, barely 20 kms from this city, may not have to migrate lock, stock and barrel this summer. That has been its annual ordeal for years. With water sources drying up as summer simmers, villagers of many nearby villages were forced to shift downstream to nearby villages looking for livelihood and fodder for cattle.

The villages will now hugely benefit from a water conservation project initiated by the Art of Living organization. “It was not planned at this scale. But as if by a divine conspiracy, all government agencies and public have come together willingly in a unique public partnership that is aimed at rejuvenating the Vena river through drainage network treatment of around 25 km length of nullahs. The project is expected to dramatically enhance groundwater table in around 16 sq km (or 4,000 acres) in the first phase. The project is aptly named: ‘Majhi Vena Majhi Ganga‘.

This evening the spirited members of AOL with help of a PPP will elucidate to you how this transformation was conceived, planned & executed with the active involvement & dedication of a large number of people. Please come and hear their story of bringing cheer to a large community.

Chitnaivs Centre, 6 pm this evening. See you all.
