The Call of the Mountains

Mission Shaurya 2- the Untold Story gripped the audience with its narration. The intensity and determination of the youngsters and their trainers were heard with rapt attention. The story of tribal children from Maharashtra, trained by Avinash Deoskar and his wife, Vimla Negi Deoskar was narrated by them with visuals. Initiating the narration, Mr.Deoskar said that,” Those who respect Nature, Nature respects them.”

Eleven tribal youngsters were selected by a transparent method and trained for nine months to take this strenuous climb to Mount Everest.

Mrs. Vimla Negi said that the youngsters with their hard work and dedication succeeded in their mission. They surrendered themselves completely to their trainers. The first and probably the easiest for them was to learn to speak Hindi.

Dr.Arti Kelkar, the team medico explained how acclimatizing was most important as all parameters change at that height. Rest and recovery are very necessary. At the Advance Base Camp at 21,000 feet, the climbers have to acclimatize for 7 days.

The three youngsters, Manisha, Suraj and spoke of their 55 memorable days amidst the mountains; roughing it out in tents and inclement weather.

Flags were exchanged with IYE students

President Parag Paranjpe presented mementos to the speakers and the young mountaineers.
