The enchanting beauty of nature, the simplistic pleasures of living in villages, their traditional form of paintings like Warli and even the humility of the man that made their lives enriching – Murlidhar ‘Baba’ Amte.

Children from the school run at Lok Biradari Prakalp were a happy lot when they got the chance to decorate the compound walls of the prakalp and stood a chance to win prizes for it too. They were equally enthusiastic about some sports events organised for them during the two-day surgical camp.

“Usually we hold a drawing competition, but this year we thought of wall art as a way of giving the message of saving paper to the students. A couple of children drew so well that the teachers have asked them to decorate the school walls too,” informed Manish Bhati.

“The camp and sporting activities becoming an annual feature, our children look forward to it with bated breath. Several of them even prepare for days for the events,” said principal VK Talvekar.

Lecturer GB Kulkarni supervised the drawing competition (photos) while sports teacher Ashish Nandanwar took keen interest in the cricket match, track events including races, discuss and shot put.
