Rotary gives “Disha” & “Smiling Faces” to our new generation

January 22, 2015 divider image

A very good morning my Rotary Family,

I had the privilege to attend DISHA, our club’s annual Career Guidance program for students of the Xth & XIth. This time there was a change in venue to Dhanwate National College where about 600 students congregated to listen to a panel of 21 experienced faculty empowering them on various vocational options open to them in these modern times. A very well orchestrated and executed project and Director Vocation Beena Mathew, CPs Indu Agrawal, Rita Aggarwal & Manju Shahani and the committee members deserve to be appreciated.

This morning by the time you get this blog, we would be in the midst of our Project of Pride SMILING FACES, at St Ursula School where our kind hearted Rotarians would meet their beneficiaries. Project Smiling Faces is all about Collecting & distributing Scholarships of more than Rs 9 Lacs to under privileged youngsters especially girls from many schools, which pays the school fees of more than 350 youngsters. I take this opportunity of exhorting you to sponsor a child this year and watch them flourish. Rtns Rajiv Behal, Sandip Dhodapkar, PP Gulab Mahant the club salutes you for your relentless efforts year after year.

What an intriguing & debatable topic “Why Is Gandhi still alive ?” Journalist & Activist Chandrakant Wankhede will unravel this mystery this evening, and his thought provoking revelation would certainly be worth your valuable time to spend with some of your friends. Then we have the IYE rebound youngsters sharing with you for a few minutes their fascinating experience overseas. I would also like to introduce to you a youngster running a successful NGO by the name of SUNSHINE. How welcome the sunshine is during the chilly winters.

So looking forward to meeting all of you this evening at Chitnavis Centre.

Bharat Goenka
