Anubhuti – District Conference @ Mumbai

Awesome!!! Amazing!!! Extraordinary!!! Wow!!!

These are some of the adjectives used by delegates who attended the two-day annual Rotary District Conference “Anubhuti” held at the fabulous Sahara Star Convention Centre, Mumbai, on 26th & 27th December 2015.

Anubhuti conference attracted some of the best speakers in modern times. Conference Chair Nitin Khandelwal in his speech thanked the delegates who made a new record for attendance. DG Dr Nikhil Kibe in his opening remarks welcomed the speakers, and invited the delegates to benefit from the sessions. The inaugural session had Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri Ajay Sancheti as the chief guest. Past Rotary International Director Shekhar Mehta was nursing a sore throat but that didn’t stop him from talking about his favourite subject, Literacy. Brahmakumari Deepa brought a sense of peace and serenity in the auditorium. Former MP and ex-Bollywood star Ms Jayaprada spoke on women’s empowerment, and how villages in hinterland of UP have changed with time.

Hon’ble Justice Srikrishna spoke on “Rule of Law & Ethics – Convergence” PDG Raju Subramaniam (D3140) spoke about the Art of Giving.  Ms Pankaja Gopinath Munde – Palwe, Minister in Maharashtra State Government for Rural Development spoke from her heart.

Bollywood superstar Shatrughan Sinha, ex-MP and senior BJP leader was present. In his address he spoke about how much Rotary has done for Polio, and gave his best wishes to Rotarians.

Amit Jadav or AJ entertained the audience till midnight and had the people on their feet throughout the evening. Devdutta Pattanaik, the famous writer on Gita and mythology, held the audience spellbound with his command over the holy book and his interpretations. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the famous stock-broker, also known as ‘big bull’ kept the audience glued to their chairs while speaking at ease about the Indian economy.

DGE Mahesh Mokalkar and his team led by Asif Zahid gave a presentation of the next year’s “Swapnapoorti” conference to be held at Nagpur. The much awaited IYE inbound students’ presentation was next, and this brought the audience on its feet.

Major Donors of The Rotary Foundation were recognized and acknowledged in the next session.

PDG Dr Balkrishna Inamdar (D3140) Mumbai spoke on Public Image and its importance for us Rotarians. A number of PDG’s helped Chair individual plenary sessions. All in all a fantastic two days !!
