Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Sixth month of Rotary year 2016-17 is upon us, how time flies. Half of Rotary year is nearly over. In my first address in GO, I had spoken about “Change”. “Glocal” era has arrived, as said “Change is the only constant” — and change we must and embrace changes going ahead to be in service of humanity. This year we had decided to commit ourselves to serving humanity in a large scale. Our two Global Grant Projects for Safe drinking water in 8 villages of Tadoba buffer zone and Watershed project in Yavatmal has already been initialised with the help of our Canadian Partners and Rotary Club of Bombay, costing more than $ 120,000/-. Upon completion of these projects, it will affect the livelihood of more than 5,000 families, 25,000 people, 15,000 cattle and round the year irrigation for 4,000 farmers for better living. For the club of our size and stature, we should now move on to bigger and better schemes to serving humanity and that is what we are doing !!

December has seen slew of activities in our club. Starting from first week with Medical diagnostic Camp for more than 500 police personnel. It is to the credit to our DG that he entrusted our club for this massive activity to be executed to perfection. And perfection it was. Our medical team rose to the occasion and performed to perfection so much so that even our Chief Minister was full of praise. DG has made our club focal point for these camps for all over the District as monitoring agency, with Bharat Petroleum. Thank you DG for the faith reposed on our club and its abilities. At the same time, our team of doctors were performing Eye surgeries in Ramtek and did 60 eye correction surgeries in Yogiraj Hospital spanning two days of first week of December.

Then it was time for some fun and frolic. Sports Committee organized the Rotary Cricket League in all its grandeur starting from Auction to successful fruition. And with style, thereby breaking all previous records. Then came our Charter Nite with more than 80 Rotarians/Annes participating and put up a stupendous show for the members and guests. Both were the evenings filled with fun and frolic. Our club was  privileged to visit Air India MRO for Vocational visit. Thanks to untiring efforts of our members for past three months to make this happen. You will be proud to know that this will be the “first and last time” that MRO will be shown to members of public and we are grateful that our club was the chosen one !!

We are now eagerly waiting for completion of our Operation Theatre in Melghat. All the civil activities in the theatre, to make it reach to best medical standards of hygiene is over, equipments are in place and are under installation and testing. We hope to inaugurate it within the fortnight of January’17. Looking forward to our annual pilgrimage to Hemalkasa on the 20th & 21st of January and also Walkathon on 5th of February. Your club has been able to stitch partnership with IDBI bank for long term association for this event apart from our main sponsor Arneja Heart Institute. In the long run, this event will be financially secure in terms of finances.

AND District Conference, “SWAPNAPURTI”, IS UPON US, Our DG needs support from all of us. No one can make an event like this a success without help of each and every Rotarian. Please register and participate. DG assures you on behalf of Conference planners, along with conference team, that they are making more than 100% efforts to make this event a memorable one. Each guest is an excellent speaker and shall be speaking on subjects of varied interest to the Rotarians. There is much more to the Conference than just speakers, many more activities and events shall be there to keep you busy, interested and occupied. As the time is short, I urge you to send your entries ASAP.

I wish all our members a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Looking forward to more participation and more meaningful projects in the rest of our Rotary year !!
