A most humane & noble donation

Good morning Rotary family.

Not an active week project wise, but then there is some good news and some sad news.

Yesterday Daoo family respecting the wishes of their mother Late Smt.Nirmala Daoo created history by  consenting to donate her skin, with this many burn victims will be saved and this will be in larger interest of humanity. Rtn Dr.Sameer Jahagirdar, Centre Incharge, Rotary-OCHRI Skin bank got a call from the Daoo family and harvested around 1000 cm2 skin from back and thighs with technical assistance by technicians trained at National Burns Centre. He harvested the skin with precision and apprehension of everybody around was removed when they saw that no bleeding or disfigurement. This is the first skin donation for the Rotary-OCHRI Skin Bank, and I am sure this will inspire and enthuse others to pledge their bodies for a humane cause.

Youngster Zoya Rana a past IYE student, scheduled to go this year as a New Generation exchange student to USA, daughter of Rtn Rozina Rana tragically lost her life in an accident. She told the family for organ donation before going brain dead, and as per her wish her eyes and kidneys have been donated under able guidance and motivation of Dr Ravi Wankhede. Even in death this young noble soul gifted vision to two & life to two others. This world is full of good samaritans who think of others even in death.

Today we have an interesting personality, Shri Vishwas Lapalkar addressing our club. On a discussion with him he said that in his talk with the help of graphic presentation he will be highlighting the qualities required to be successful in social life like leadership ,organising and spiritual one which will not only make you successful but your life will become an enlightened life. For illustrating this, he will take an example of construction of Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari, which was done in shortest time with involvement of all section of people pf our country to make it a real National Monument of Swami Vivekananda -a great patriotic saint.

Dr Sameer Jahagridar and Dr Ravi Wankhede would also be apprising us with the modalities of skin donation and the organ donation made by the noble souls.

Kindly be there for the meeting today.

Bharat Goenka
