Take Rotary Home

February 4, 2016 divider image

Rotary brings people and cultures together!
When Sanaya Bapuna, daughter of Abad and Viloo, went to Minnesota USA as an IYE student, little did she know that her visit would lead to a sister club partnership between that club and ours.
Regular correspondence with her host parents brought about a visit of a team of 9 Americans visiting Nagpur on the 16th and 17th of january
Their interest in India, converted into a family exchange program.
5 hosts from our club and 1 each from Ishanya and Mihaan town welcomed the Americans in our usual Indian, hospitable way. Amidst other things a dinner was arranged at President Khushnoor and Sanjiv’s house.
Rtn Vilas Kale, Dist chair for family exchange had made a beautiful power point on India. We also showcased our Hemalkasa and Smiling faces projects.
Over a pot luck dinner, the guests as well as Rotarians from other clubs enjoyed the get together.
But this TRH continued to a traditional lunch, hosted by Rtn Vilas and Neeta the next afternoon at their 300 yr old ancestral vada.
The Americans were simply awestruck and said they had never seen anything so beautiful.
A city tour, visit to the Orange City Mela and that to Forms factory was much appreciated by the foreign guests.
The guests toured the district for some 10 days or so and left for Delhi to fly back home.
So we could now claim that we took Rotary across the seven seas!
